Since we have completely failed to meet so far this year, we are starting fresh with a new book club pick! We'll be reading The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion. It's a pretty easy, entertaining read so hopefully we can try to meet by the end of June. Happy reading!!

August 2015 Book Club meeting
Hello friends,
Hope you have started or maybe finished our latest book club pick, Z: A novel of Zelda Fitzgerald. We have a fun afternoon planned for this month's book club! Saturday, August 29th we'll be wandering down to Tracy Stewart's neighborhood of Silverton, OR. We'll plan on being there around 3 pm so those of us from the Tigard area can plan to carpool down about an hour earlier. We can wander around downtown, grab some coffee or tea and then head back to Tracy's house.

Our next book club pick--Summer/Early Autumn 2015
Hello friends,
Our next book club pick will be Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald by Therese Anne Fowler. I just read this book and thought it would be a great pick for book club. It's a fictionalized version of the life of Zelda Fitzgerald, the wife of F. Scott Fitzgerald, author of The Great Gatsby. Below is a synopsis for you to read. The book is easy to get at the library and inexpensive on Amazon if you want to purchase it. I also found it helpful to have my phone with me while I read so if I came across a name of an artist or actor I didn't recognize, I could look it up. It helped me gain a better idea of who the people were the Fitzegerald's associated with and the "atmosphere" of the times.

Synopsis:
When beautiful, reckless Southern belle Zelda Sayre meets F. Scott Fitzgerald at a country club dance in 1918, she is seventeen years old and he is a young army lieutenant stationed in Alabama. This next book pick will be out last of the year before the holidays come and make us all too busy! Our pick is Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea by Barbara Demick.
Barbara will be hosting and we are looking toward Sunday, November 9th as our meeting date. We will let you know a time closer to the date.
We also mentioned coming to our next book club with at least a couple titles for 2015 so we can lay out a reading schedule, so please be thinking about those picks!

Summer Reads
Hello everyone!
We had a great time discussing Monuments Men this past Sunday! Thank you to Barbara for our more "last minute" book pick. We also discovered the library book kits are very helpful and we may look into using them more in the future.
We decided to keep the reading light for the rest of the summer! For July we will be reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. Many of us have already read this book and loved it! We hope you will enjoy it too. The library should have plenty of copies or there are usually copies at Goodwill or Value Village. We'll be meeting at Stacy's home on Sunday, July 27th at 8:00 pm.
